5.7.12: Recipient only accepts mail from inside its organization
Exchange Online returns 5.7.12 (and 5.7.133, 5.7.134 or 5.7.136 for groups, mailboxes and mail users) when the recipient is set to reject mail from outside its own organization. Nothing on your side will fix it. Only the recipient’s admin or group owner can change that setting.

Why it happens
- The address is an internal-only mailbox, group or distribution list.
- The recipient organization restricts external mail to that address.
How to fix it
- Contact the person through another channel if the mail is expected.
- Remove internal-only group addresses from outreach lists.
If you send cold email
Role and group addresses scraped from websites are often internal-only. Suppress them instead of retrying.
How WarmHawk handles it
A hard bounce marks that lead as bounced and stops its sequence, and every bounce counts toward the mailbox’s bounce-rate breaker: at 5% over at least 20 sends, WarmHawk pauses the mailbox before a stale list can damage the domain. How WarmHawk works →
