Check your DMARC policy — none, quarantine, or reject.
DMARC tells receivers what to do when a message fails SPF or DKIM, and reports spoofing attempts back to you. A policy of p=none is a real, published record that explicitly asks receivers to take no action on failure — a common default that’s easy to mistake for protection. Questions
DMARC Checker FAQ
Is p=none the same as having no DMARC protection?+
It’s a published record, so alignment is being evaluated — but the policy explicitly tells receivers to do nothing on failure. It’s a monitoring mode, not enforcement.
What’s the difference between quarantine and reject?+
quarantine asks receivers to route failing mail to spam; reject asks them to refuse it outright. Reject is the stronger policy most mature domains land on.
Why do I need an rua address in my DMARC record?+
Without an rua address, an enforcing policy still works, but spoofing attempts against your domain are never reported back to you.
